Behind Inferno Solar

Curtis Craig

President, P.Eng

Curtis is a Master Electrician and Electrical Engineer with a background in the industry dating back to 2007. Curtis formed Inferno Solar in early 2019 to fulfill part of a lifelong dream to be his own boss while doing meaningful, rewarding work and serving customers throughout Alberta.

In less than two years, Curtis and the Inferno Solar team have installed over 2,700 solar panels totalling over 1,000 kW throughout the province. 2021 looks promising, with 1,800 panels being installed on Inferno’s largest project to date – powering a 50,000 sq.ft. freezer facility.

In November 2020, Curtis was also recognized as one of the Top 40 Under 40 in Canadian Construction. A firm believer in the potential of solar power throughout Western Canada, Curtis aims to install more than 20,000 new solar panels over the next two years.

When he is not hard at work quoting a project or chatting with clients, you can find Curtis pedalling a mountain bike or road bike, shooting a mediocre score on the golf course, or exploring the Rockies on a set of touring skis.

Clayton Berg

Project Manager

Clayton joined the company in March of 2020 as a Project Manager and oversees the design of our systems, the preparation of bids and proposals, coordination of permitting, engineering consultants, subcontractors and Inferno Solar labor during project installation.

His engineering background motivates him to relentlessly pursue innovative solutions to unique problems. His insight is shaped by a wide variety of experiences, including running his own business, surveying for major Oil & Gas projects, and working with an NGO firm in Papua New Guinea.

In his free time, you’ll find him in the mountains with a pack on his back, behind either a camera, a bow or on a set of skis. He’s a country boy living in the city where he and his wife love to create culinary experiences for guests in his home while also learning the art of smoking meat.

Josh Read

Foreman

Josh started with Inferno Solar in February of 2021. Josh has been in the trade for 10 years, and has experience working in industrial, oil and gas, commercial, and residential electrical. He is currently enrolled in the Lakeland College Renewable Energy and Conservation program.

Josh brings humour, passion, and a great work ethic to the team. As foreman, Josh is a critical member of the team, in charge of organization on site, mentoring apprentices, quality assurance and control, as well as ordering material, making sure the crew is working effectively and safely, planning daily tasks, troubleshooting, etc. Josh has previous experience in this role from previous experience in the Alberta industrial sector.

Josh is an example of how renewable energy can provide opportunities for energy workers to participate in the energy transition. We are thankful for Josh and his contributions to safety, quality workmanship, lifelong learning, and mentorship of junior team members.

David joined the Inferno team in Fall of 2021, but is no stranger to the solar industry in Alberta. Over the last four years he has been an integral part in the design, installation, and maintenance of numerous municipal and commercial solar arrays throughout the province. He has always had a huge interest in electric vehicles, solar, and green technologies, and thoroughly enjoys being able to pursue his passion in the rapidly changing industry of renewables.

David believes that each client and site is unique, and it’s important to establish clear client values for the design and construction of each project to ensure that all expectations are met in regards to performance, budget, aesthetics, and safety. He also enjoys working with clients on their current energy usage to determine how they can ensure optimum usage of their solar products and are getting the best value possible from wire service providers for the delivery of energy from the grid.

David is an out of the box thinker, and when designing systems has great intuition to assemble the most buildable, feasible, and highest performing systems in western Canada. David’s experience from the full cycle of construction of solar systems has given him un-paralleled estimating knowledge on hours forecasting per task item. This allows David to excel in extremely accurate estimates and manpower forecasting to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and on budget.

Allyson Dueck

Accounting Manager

Allyson joined the Inferno team in Sept of 2022 as the Accounting Manager. She is responsible for all things financial, from accounts receivables and payables, to reporting and forecasting. She has over 20 years of experience in the industry and has worked in-house as a corporate controller, and has also taught QuickBooks, bookkeeping and personal tax courses.

She joined the City of Edmonton Master Composter Recycler Program in 2020 and is passionate about composting and gardening. Allyson also enjoys walking in the river valley, DIY projects and listening to podcasts.
