Our Challenge

Reduce customer electricity & demand billing charges with a clean responsible energy solution.

This solution financially benefited both the tenant and the building landlord. The building’s structural capacity for the solar system and the highly compressive insulation on the roof was an initial challenge. The roof array needed to be designed and installed using a specific tenant to connect with to provide the best energy return. With the tenant being a large oil & gas mining company the IT department worried about the potential of hacking on the solar panel network. Being outside of the city, the area is subject to higher wind loads than commonly found inside the city.

Our Solution

We identified the tenant with the largest load to offset and supplied and installed 156 solar panels.

We identified the tenant with the largest load to offset and supplied and installed 156 solar panels, facing south at 10 degrees with an economical racking product. The economical racking product was used to aid in the structural capacity of the roof. Since the tenant was a large oil & gas mining company with an IT department that was worried of potential hacking through the solar panel network, we installed the solar system using a cellular connection instead of a network connection to protect the tenant. We worked closely with the landlord and tenant to provide an innovative financing package to reduce capital costs to the tenant, and increase the yield on the building financials.
