Our Challenge
Reduce customer electricity & demand billing charges by providing a cost-effective clean energy solution.
This project was initially supposed to be installed as a high profile south-facing ground mount but had insufficient room on-site due to congested utilities on the ground.
An alternative to installing a ground mount was to install the solar array on the roof of the building. Installing the array on the roof came with its own challenges of being a pre-engineered building with the roof facing east and west and the structural capacity of the roof.
Our Solution
We increased the number of panels by over 50% and mounted them flush to the east and west-facing roof.
Our team located the original building drawings and contracted with a structural engineer to assess the building and approve the design. Not only did we install the solar system on the roof, but we also increased the number of panels by over 50% and mounted them flush to the east and west-facing roofs where they will capture morning and afternoon sun. Our design also provides up to 25% of the tenant’s electricity needs each year, helping offset carbon emissions, attract new customers and employees, and differentiate the business.
We used the latest solar panels available on the market that allow the bottom half to be shaded and the top half to still produce. This will assist in increasing annual generation during the winter months.
We provided a customer-owned meter and monitoring solution, accessible via a webpage, to view building electricity usage and solar production live.
Finally, we provide a promotional video of the final product to the customer for use in their own advertising and marketing.
Inferno Solar was responsible for all design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of this project.
