Hino Central is celebrating 25 years in business, and the successful launch of a new location in Calgary! Offering sales on new and used vehicles for your business, as well as inspections, parts, and service, they are a full service dealership. We had the pleasure of installing a roof top solar array for Hino’s new building!
Our Challenge for the Hino Roof Top Solar Array
This project features a PVC roof and relatively small footprint.
The presence of rooftop equipment necessitated some large holes in the array, which makes the ballast requirements for the solar system heavier than an equivalent large square of solar panels. Finally, the building is serviced at 208/120V, which requires a transformer to connect to the inverter.
Our Solution
Working closely with the roofing contractor to provide and install cover-board and roof protection pads under all solar mounting components.
We worked closely with the roofing contractor to provide and install cover-board and roof protection pads under all solar mounting components. We also supplied fully waterproofed anchors that attach the solar racking to the building structure, reducing the ballast requirements. We also worked with the racking manufacturer to develop a new ballast bay that enables the ballast to be spread over a larger area, reducing point loads. Finally, we provided a step-down transformer on the roof to connect our 480V inverter to the 208V building.
We are proud to have worked with Hino Central on this exciting project!
